Frequently Asked Questions
If you are dealing with a workplace injury, you likely have questions about the process, your rights, and what to expect moving forward. The system can feel complicated, especially when multiple parties are involved.
Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out directly. We’re here to help.
What is a Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC)?
A Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant, or QRC, is a professional who helps guide injured workers through the recovery process. This includes coordinating care, communicating with all parties involved, and helping support a safe return to work.
Who pays for QRC services?
In most cases, QRC services are paid for by the workers’ compensation insurance company. There is typically no direct cost to the injured worker.
Can I choose my own QRC?
Yes. Injured workers have the right to choose their own Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant. You are not required to work with someone assigned to you.
When should I involve a QRC?
A QRC is often involved when recovery is taking longer than expected or when there are challenges returning to work. In many cases, this happens after 13 weeks, but support can be beneficial earlier depending on the situation.
What does a QRC actually do?
QRC helps coordinate communication between doctors, employers, and insurance companies, attends appointments when needed, ensures care plans are followed, and supports return-to-work planning.
Do you attend medical appointments?
Yes, when appropriate. Attending appointments can help ensure clear communication, answer questions in real time, and prevent misunderstandings that could delay recovery.
What is an Independent Medical Exam (IME)?
An IME is an exam requested by the insurance company to evaluate your condition. It is separate from your regular doctor. We help you understand what to expect and support you through the process.
Do you investigate injured workers?
No. As a QRC, we are not allowed to investigate injured workers. Our role is to support recovery and coordination, not surveillance or investigation.
What types of cases do you take?
We focus on cases where injured workers are working toward returning to their job or a similar role with the right support and coordination.
Do you work with attorneys, employers, and insurance companies?
Yes. We work with all parties involved in a claim to ensure clear communication, proper coordination, and a smoother recovery process.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. Reach out through the contact form or call directly to discuss your situation and determine the next steps.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. All communication is handled with strict confidentiality. Information is only shared with proper authorization from the injured worker.
